Colgate University women’s hockey standout Elyssa Biederman of Franklin was named to the inaugural roster of Tribe NIL, recognizing her for her hockey excellence, leadership, Jewish values and identity as a Jewish college athlete.

Tribe NIL is a first-of-its-kind initiative dedicated to help Jewish college athletes navigate the new world of NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals through financial support, career development and brand-building rooted in Jewish values.

“We want to build a global network of Jewish sports leaders for the next generation,” said Tribe NIL co-founder and CEO Jeremy Moses.

Tribe NIL co-founder and president Eitan Levine said, “It’s not the easiest time to be a Jewish college student, especially a Jewish student-athlete. We want to show them that the Jewish community, as a whole, has their support.”

Biederman, a 5-foot-1 senior center, had 51 goals and 86 assists in 116 career games for Colgate as of earlier this month. She had 17 goals and 32 assists last year in 36 games.

A Birmingham Groves High School graduate, Biederman played for the Detroit Little Caesars hockey program while she was in high school. She helped lead her team to national championships in 2021 and 2022. She was the captain of both national title teams.

Biederman also has played for the U.S. in international tournaments.
